There is no single school or admissions strategy that is right for every child.
We begin by understanding the student’s academic development, personality, learning style, school experience, and family priorities. From there, we help parents build a realistic school list and determine which forms of preparation will be most valuable.

When should a family begin admissions planning?
Whenever possible, families should begin planning 6–12 months before application deadlines. Families applying for Kindergarten often benefit from beginning school research and readiness preparation during the spring or summer before applications open in the fall.
Starting early provides more time to evaluate school fit, attend tours and information sessions, prepare for interviews or playdates, complete assessments, and develop thoughtful application materials. Families with shorter timelines are also welcome to contact us for guidance based on their application stage and our availability.
Does Talent Prep review parent essays?
Yes. Talent Prep helps parents identify meaningful family stories, organize their ideas, respond directly to each school’s prompt, and revise essays for clarity, authenticity, and school-specific alignment.
Our goal is to help families communicate their genuine values, experiences, and understanding of the child. We preserve the parents’ natural voice rather than creating a story that does not accurately represent the family.
Are admissions consultations available virtually?
Yes. Admissions consultations are available virtually for families in New York City, New Jersey, and other locations. Application strategy, school selection, parent interview preparation, essay review, and most planning services can be completed effectively through virtual meetings.
Student preparation may be offered virtually or in person, depending on the child’s age, the admissions activity, and the selected program.
Is consultation available separately from tutoring or test preparation?
Yes. Families may book school admission consultation as a standalone service without enrolling in tutoring or test preparation.
Consultation can also be combined with Hunter K preparation, private-school playdate and interview readiness, FLI or ISEE preparation, Hunter High School exam preparation, or academic enrichment when additional student support would be beneficial.
